2011 was a banner year for borrowed language – both the split 12 inch from jeff pietro & israel vines (blx-2 distance no object) and jeff pietros definitive >still< 10 inch (blx-3) garnered plaudits from all corners of the globe and were charted and played by the likes of surgeon, miles whittaker (of demdike stare fame), peter van hoesen, xhin, and many others. we kick off 2012 with this astonishing 4-track ep from detroits justin ivey, and if this is anything to go by, its going to be a hell of a year… justin ivey has been making uncompromising and challenging electronic music as dj adjust (and lowsh as well as theek) since the nineties, and he is also the founder of the beloved and highly influential cult imprint low res. while low res has always released records that reside somewhere on the extreme end of the electronic music spectrum (i.e. davros and ablecain) ivey isnt a purist - in fact, he is a true enthusiast of all types of electronic music, and it certainly shows on this 4-track ep.

ltd coloured edition!! with catalog number 006 another techno legend joins the killekill family. neil landstrumm is with no doubt one of the big heroes of techno. with several albums and uncount-able singles released on renowned labels like tresor, peacefrog and planet μ,,,, he has definitely written techno history. and this does not even count in his own label scandinavia, which released music of high prolific techno artists such as cristian vogel, tobias schmidt, adam x and many more. although having produced his first records in the early nineties neil landstrumm is in no way an old school producer! he has produced a few top notch dubstep records in the last years (released on planet μ,,,) and is just now being one of the producers pushing the boundaries of the post dubstep uk bass sound and is also being featured on the nonplus label being run by no one else but boddika. for killekill neil landstrumm has delivered a handful of tracks which combine his typical dirty techno sound with the aesthetics of uk bass. extremely funky and with a big drop of acid they cross over electro, techno and even hip hop and therewith fit perfectly to the sound of our label. the co-production of weirdo mastermind si begg on touch it just adds the icing on the cake.

between 1978 and 1984 can as a group were utilising the innerspace studio in cologne less frequently in order to search for new ways to develop their sound and creativity. however drummer jaki liebezeit and holger continued to record and experiment at the studio and czukay considers this time as the most fruitful and creative period they spent together. born from this time was >secret life< and >in space< and these are presented on a white vinyl disc in a fantastic full colour thick card sleeve. limited & hand-numbered!

for our third instalment on mars recordings weve decided to go for transparent green vinyl! this has nothing to do with aliens, we wouldnt be that obvious, but its the colour chosen by the artists and we think it looks like another great mars package. musically, well edward oberon & paul t have conjured up 2 awesome tracks. >love is< is absolutely sublime with its warm bass line and delicate sounds to the breakdown, while keeping the drums nice and punchy, a great tune to roll out. >absolute< harks back to the deep sounds of old good looking by the likes of big bud or tayla. ridiculous sub-lo bass and deep strings, this is how mars do things and we feel its another quality 12 inch where the music & the packaging matter.
